What information do I need to file my taxes?

  • Valid Picture ID: Must be state issued and not expired

  • Social Security Card: Signed, unless an unemployed minor

  • Tax Documents: W2, 1099-Misc, 1099-R, Earnings Statement

  • Proof of Insurance: 1095A (optional)

  • Bank Info: Blank personal check or statement

  • Copy of prior year tax return

  • Information regarding spouse: Only if filing jointly or claimingOne form of identification for spouse

  •  Dependent information: Social Security Card, birth certificate, shot records, school records

Can I use my last paycheck of to file my taxes?

Although it is possible to have your taxes filed using your last paycheck stub, we cannot guarantee an accurate return. We offer free estimates for those with paycheck stubs. The filing process can be completed once your W2 is available.

What is the Earned Income Tax Credit? Am I eligible?

EITC, Earned Income Tax Credit, is a benefit for working people who have low to moderate income. A tax credit means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of tax you owe and may also give you a refund. EITC is also called EIC or Earned Income Credit.

How long do i have to file my taxes? Can I file last years taxes this year?

Three Years. If you want your refund, you have three years after this year's April taxdeadline to file. The IRS operates under a statute of limitations: unless it suspects fraud, or you've under-reported taxes by more than 25 percent, it closes the book on returns filed more than three years ago.

I think I may owe student loans. How do I find out if my taxes will be offset due to outstanding debt?

To determine whether an offset will occur on a debt owed (other than federal tax), contact the call center at 800-304-3107 (866-297-0517 for TTY/TDD help).  If you believe you have incured federal tax debt, contact the IRS at 800-829-1040.
